It makes me sad that so many people and friends have left GW. It's lonely often in our GH.
I keep coming on to grind out the last few titles a little more every day. I'm a sucker for punishment, I guess.
But Trubs is there. Her smile makes it OK.

I remember what always got me excited about GW prior to its release. Opening up the GWs login screen to see that there was a new update for the game, a game i wasnt even able to play yet, could just open up the game and stare at the login screen, oh the memories. Anyways, if they were to do that with GW2, that would really get my blood going again. Though before they can do that, they would have to release a screenshot first!!!

Dumb the game down so that everyone can grind the hell out of titles in HM.
I am guessing that the player base retained that way is bigger then the one that is lost. (At least that way that decision makes sense.)

Whats up their sleeve? At best, probably new titles. Also more copy/paste holidays (I love them though, not trying to sound disparaging). I would love to have a mini expansion, but that seems like a lot of work for them to put in at this point.
And I do agree, I am very, very much looking forward to GW2. Though it is quite tiresome that all the news thats available is over a year old (With the exception in that German article about them mentioning a 'robust' crafting system). Seems like it's high time we got thrown a bone.
Though I have to say, I'm lucky enough to be in a fun, active guild and alliance. I'm not experiencing some of the issues people have brought up here.

when they balance skills I'm always interested for a while figuring out new builds and all that, hopefully they can do it more often than they do. They should also add a hell mode hard mode is too easy with all these pve skills and whatnot.

Drop instancing. Or don't drop it completely, but make it so you can select an option that would put you out there with other people at random, rather than having your own instance. For all the people going 'OMG, just make it WoW', I like instancing too, but I bet within a day of doing it, 99% of the people would have the option selected.

What we need is some retroactive changes like the Prophecies endgame weapons.
Then some little quests, tying lose ends, like one finding and freeing Rurik from some Margonites so he can go the Mysts, another fighting what's left of the Shiro'ken in Factions (East from Inner sanctum, up in the mountains)...
And what about those doors that lead nowhere? Like the one in Barbarous shore, the one in the Souther shiverpeaks or the ones in Tahnnakai temple?
And also making things like armors and miniatures unlockeable, so people try to get them all...
And, of course, the Xunlai Market to make trading easier and a change in customization so more items are customized and more room is made for newly dropped items...
I've heard that they are gettinjg a programmer dedicated to GW1. I hope he do something more than just bugfixes.

I think we're in dire need of new content.
I've been playing for 36 months, on and off. Always came back to GW... up till now. I log on, chat with guildies, then I log back off because I'm bored. A game can only interest someone for some time while they've got stuff to do. I've lost complete interest in farming and titles (had before the SF nerf), which were the only things keeping me in this as we have no new content, except the last weapon updates.
I moved onto other games for now though, but I'm looking for GW-like experiences and let's face it, I won't find it.
I still log on GW but it's mostly to chat... and as I noted in PM to someone the other day, maybe simply meeting new people would make it interesting for me again. I logged on yesterday, we had new guildies, I jumped on it and stayed a few hours just to talk to people >_>.

If their problem is that it has literally dried up, tell them to literally pour water on their computer. That should fix it. Unless, of course, it has only figuratively dried up. If so, you might be in for some problems.

I tried this, but after beating the game I saw no point in continually grinding for no real reason.

Many of us have played since Beta....we laughed, cried, and raged at each nerf/buff thrown at us.
...
Now....
We aren't logging in as much.
GW2 was announced a loooooong time ago, and that was it.
No snippets of gossip worth seeing, no screenshots to show us the new wonders, just the generic:
"It's going to be BETTER than GW1!!"
After that...nothing.
All the chit-chats held with gaming mags just re-hashed the same crapola we were fed over time.
I would like anyone elses insight in to what they believe will be up ANets sleeve to possibly keep their player base interested until GW2?
~Peace out.

What I think they will do has already been said : new skins, event, what we get since 2 mounth
What they SHOULD do : leak info about GW2 (which will depend on where they are in development), add quests/mini-quests in earlier game...
What I suggest you do, and you're in SMS so it shouldn't be a problem : Grab an old game, go through it, do another maybe, come back to GW and hope there is some important change. Basically, don't stay on GW. Don't entirely banish GW but find a way not to feel needed on GW. Can I sugest Diablo or Baldur's Gate.

I'd sugest trying in soloplayer, makes the game slightly longer and it seems I am the only player left in Solo.

Have tried persistent worlds, despise them. Instancing is one of those things that makes Guild Wars great.

Because gameplay > graphics. Some of my fav games are NES or SNES classics.
EDIT: /facepalm. Gameplay over graphics.

Don't worry Trub; if Avarre doesn't suck me too deep into D2 when I get to New York, I will play GW with you. Granted, I'm jaded and cynical and racist and just downright mean, but you know you love me.
Also, I win the game. That alone is awesomesauce.
